Description

Aluminum foil over a rainbow. MIRRORBANK is a collection of songs written and recorded by Los Angeles based artist Yourself In Peace over the course of 2022. It's a sonic decollage filtered through shoegaze, beats and avant pop meant to represent the afterimage or the sensation when you abruptly close your eyes after accidentally staring into the sun. The colors that remain over black even when provided no visual stimuli is where this album lies. An afterimage remains in the abyss of shut eyes. There is still stimulation when there is no stimulation. A mirror is empty and whole at the same time; it allows for space to be taken up by an object. The afterimage is the space a previous object occupied.

虹の上のアルミホイル。MIRRORBANKは、ロサンゼルスを拠点とするアーティストYourself In Peaceが2022年の間に書き、録音した曲のコレクションである。シューゲイザー、ビート、アヴァン・ポップにフィルターをかけたサウンド・デコラージュで、誤って太陽を見つめてしまった後に突然目を閉じた時の残像や感覚を表現することを意図している。視覚的な刺激を与えずとも、黒の上に残る色彩が、このアルバムの位置づけです。目を閉じた深淵の中に残る残像。無刺激のときにも刺激はある。鏡は空であると同時に全体であり、物体によって空間を占有することができる。残像は以前の物体が占有していた空間である。

今回は大阪LOSER RECORDSとロサンゼルスを拠点に展開するビートコレクティブパーティBEAT CINEMAとの共同同時リリースとなります。
